An Antepartum Doula provides in-home support to a woman and her family during pregnancy. This includes practical support, emotional support, and sometimes physical support. An Antepartum Doula is very knowledgeable about pregnancy and childbirth. Things that an Antepartum Doula might do are:
Dishes
Laundry
Meal prep & bringing meals/snacks/beverages to the mother-to-be
Grocery shopping/errands
Caring for older children
Nursery organization & other things to help prepare for baby's arrival
Light housekeeping, such as picking up, wiping countertops, sweeping. (No toilets or deep cleaning)
Emotional support, including watching for signs of Perinatal Mood & Anxiety Disorders
Physical support, if the mother needs help getting up and getting around
Breastfeeding & Newborn Care education, if desired
Offering resources & referrals, if needed
Reassurance about pregnancy-related things ("Is this normal?)
Companionship
Who Might Hire an Antepartum Doula?
Pregnancy can be amazing, but it can also be very challenging, emotionally and physically. An antepartum doula can be helpful for any pregnant woman and her family. But this service can be especially helpful for (but not limited to): Women experiencing Hyperemesis Gravidarum (very severe morning sickness), pregnant mothers who have other children at home, women who are put on bed rest, women with physical disabilities who are pregnant, women experiencing or at risk for Antenatal Depression/Anxiety, and women whose pregnancies are considered high-risk.
Antepartum Doula Pricing
Antepartum Doula services can be purchased in blocks of hours or paid for on an hourly basis at the rate of $30/hr. There is a minimum purchase of 3 hours.
25 hours (2-3 weeks of support) = $700 (savings of $50) 50 hours (3-6 weeks of support) = $1350 (savings of $150) 100 hours (6-12 weeks of support) = $2,600 (savings of $400)
*There is a $90 non-refundable deposit at the signing of the contract, in order to reserve your spot on my calendar. (This deposit will be applied toward the total fees.) *50% (includes deposit) to be paid before services begin. (Special circumstances may be considered.) *Remainder will be paid weekly or bi-weekly as services are provided. *Unused Antepartum Doula hours may be rolled over into the postpartum period. *Gift certificates are available upon request and can be added to your Babylist registry.
