Meet Geneva Kent, CLS
Hi, there! I'm Geneva, the owner and operator of Maternal Seasons, LLC. I have noticed a gap in care that many mothers experience – especially during the postpartum period – and love walking alongside other moms during any season of motherhood. But I have a special interest in Perinatal Mood & Anxiety Disorders (such as Postpartum Depression) and breastfeeding support.
I live in Plainfield, IN (just west of Indianapolis) with my husband and three kids (ages 9, 7, and 4). I have a Bachelor's degree in Counseling with a Minor in Cross-Cultural Studies. I'm also a Certified Lactation Specialist and am Certified in Infant, Child, and Adult CPR and First Aid. Before choosing to be a stay-at-home mother in 2008, I was a mental health professional and a nanny. I have enjoyed working as a Postpartum Doula since 2012 and a Birth Doula since 2014. I trained as a Birth Doula through DONA International and as a Postpartum Doula through ProDoula. I'm always learning and have done extensive studies on pregnancy, labor/birth, breastfeeding, newborn care, and maternal mental health. I've undergone professional training for both childbirth and breastfeeding (including a 45-hour lactation course). I also helped found and facilitate a Postpartum Mood & Anxiety Disorder support group.
